The National Electrical Code‘s Table 250.122 outlines the minimum size equipment grounding conductors for grounding raceway and equipment. For example, the rating of an automatic overcurrent device in a circuit not exceeding 15 amperes requires #14 AWG copper wiring or #12 AWG aluminum or copper-clad aluminum wiring.
