The National Electrical Code‘s Article 210.52 Dwelling Unit Receptacle Outlets outlines guidelines to receptacles:
✔️ Spacing: Receptacles must be installed so that no point along the floor line of wall space is more than 6 feet from the outlet
✔️ Floor: Outlets in or on floors won’t be counted as part of the required number of receptacles unless located within 18 in. of a wall
✔️ Kitchen: Receptacles must include at least 2 small appliance branch circuits
✔️ Bathrooms: At least one outlet must be installed in bathrooms within 3 feet of the outside edge of each basin on a wall or partition
✔️ In dwelling units, hallways of at least 10 feet in length need at least one outlet
